Well, at the beginning of 2009 it was heralded by some as the ‘Year of the Remake’ and to a certain extent that is fairly true.
It’s been a couple weeks now since the trailer surfaced for the new “The Karate Kid” movie starring Will Smith’s son Jaden, and Jackie Chan. What are your opinions on it? The poster and trailer are inside, just keep reading!
Fox has a history of picking up shows that have no chance of succeeding on their network. Will Torchwood become the latest casualty?
By this point, you have no doubt heard that Sam Raimi has pulled out/been removed from the helm of Spider-Man 4. You’ve probably also heard that as a result, Spider-Man 4 has been scrapped in favor of a series reboot. Chances are, you may have even heard the recent news that 500 Days of Summer’s Marc Webb has been tapped to become the director for the planned first three installments of the reboot. From this news, the question becomes, “Is it time for the series to reboot already?”
The final month of the year has arrived yet again. Along with bitter winds and the potential for white flakes in the air, it brings annoying jewelry commercials, crowded shopping malls, and skyrocketing airline ticket prices. Oh yeah! December also dishes out an onslaught of lists detailing the best “whatevers” of the year. In this case, the “whatevers” I am bringing you are video games. So what did I think of this year’s crop of interactive entertainment?
Hey Geeks. Scott here with an update on the future of Geek By Night and Fandomonium.
Not much to say, other than: Dollhouse has been cancelled by Fox. Stop acting like you’re surprised. The series will finish it’s 13 episode run. There will be an ending.
NBC hasn’t aired a single episode of Chuck this fall, and we still probably won’t be seeing the show until 2010 despite rumors that it might come back in November. However, the network recently announced that they have ordered an additional six episodes of Chuck, bringing the total for this yet-to-be-aired season up to 19.
Google has proven in the past that they are willing and able to challenge any and everyone in order to move into new territories. They’ve once again decided to enter a new arena this week, as they announced Google Maps Navigation. This is their entrance into the personal GPS navigation battle that has typically been fought with companies such as TomTom and Garmin. But Google is entering with a completely different strategy, and that strategy is extremely Google-like, right to it’s core.
We finally have a date for the next Doctor Who special: “The Waters of Mars”, and it’s just two weeks away. November 15th the episode will air on BBC One. The episode is technically a stand alone episode, but it will lead in to the Christmas two-parter that will see the end of David Tennant’s fantastic reign as the Doctor.
This news actually broke while I was away on my fantabulous cruise vacation. However, since I didn’t have a chance to talk about it then, I definitely want to do so now. Joss Whedon will be directing an episode of my favorite new show, Glee. Glee is a show centered around a high school’s (partially) reject filled glee club. It features an eclectic mix of music from Journey, to Beyonce, to Sisqo, and more. Mix it in with a wonderful since of humor, and you have glee. Joss will have a field day with this show.
We’ve discussed several times before on the site about getting together and playing some games online. So I’m throwing out an invitation to everyone that is interested. On Tuesday, I’ll be throwing a Halo Play Day. I’ve taken the day off in honor of Halo 3 ODST, and I plan on playing multiplayer for a good majority of the day. If you have Halo 3 or Halo ODST, add Saberj to your friend’s list. For more details, keep reading.
*Updated 9/24* Turns out, we don’t run Hollywood. The actual results of the Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire casting continues to roll in. Each choice is unsurprisingly different than our original article about our choices for the show. Still, There is nothing really to complain about here.
In a move that’s sure to shake up more than just the comic industry, The Walt Disney Company (owners of ABC, ESPN, and more) have purchase Marvel. Along with the deal, they gain rights to Marvel’s over 5000 strong library of characters.
“Was that the Boogeyman?”
“Yes, I do believe it was.”
